Target GPA Calculator
The result is the average GPA you need across all remaining credits — not a prediction.
A negative “room” means the target needs a GPA above your school’s maximum. The calculator shows the number rather than hiding an unreachable target.
The algebra
Target × (earned + remaining) = current GPA × earned + required GPA × remaining. Solving for the required GPA is the only step; every input is either on your transcript or a number you choose.
What it cannot model
Grade replacement, pass/fail courses, repeated courses and school-specific rounding are not included. If your transcript has a replacement policy, run the numbers with and without the replaced grade.
Frequently asked questions
Which scale should I choose?
The one printed on your transcript. If the transcript shows A+ as 4.3, choose the 4.3 scale; if it caps A+ at 4.0, choose 4.0.
Does the result include this term’s in-progress grades?
Only if you enter them as earned credits. In-progress courses belong in remaining credits until they are final.
Can I target a GPA for one major only?
This calculates cumulative GPA. For a major GPA, use only the credits and grades that the major includes in both the earned and remaining totals.
